Portland, OR -- Governor Kulongoski's re-election campaign announced today that Governor Kulongoski has been endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon and Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon, the state’s two leading reproductive rights organizations.

The pro-choice groups cited Governor Kulongoski’s strong defense of a woman’s right to choose and commitment to family planning when making their endorsement.

“Governor Kulongoski has been a consistent leader on reproductive rights issues in Oregon and we are pleased to give him our early and enthusiastic endorsement,” stated Sharon Brenner, Planned Parenthood PAC Board Member.

“I have always believed in a woman’s right to choose and that government, at any level, has no place in this decision,” said Governor Ted Kulongoski. “As Governor of Oregon I am ready to be the last line of defense for a woman’s right to choose, but I certainly hope it never comes down to that.”

“Supporting Governor Kulongoski is one of the most important ways we can ensure a friendly environment for women at the Capitol,” said Michele Stranger Hunter, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon.

NARAL and Planned Parenthood add to a growing list of early endorsements secured by Governor Kulongoski, which also include Attorney General Hardy Myers, Treasurer Randall Edwards, Superintendent of Public Education Susan Castillo, and Labor Commissioner Dan Gardner.
